Vlint and Heijmans join forces for an optimal indoor climate at PSV Stadium

An iconic location with high indoor climate requirements
The Philips Stadium in Eindhoven is one of the city’s main landmarks. It has a capacity of over 35,000 spectators and is home to Eredivisie professional football club PSV. In addition to football matches, major events and concerts are also held there.
A healthy indoor climate in the stadium is essential for players, visitors and staff. Ventilation defects can lead to draughts, reduced air quality and health complaints. That is why the air distribution ducts (also called airsocks) are cleaned annually by Vlint, in collaboration with Heijmans, to ensure clean and even air distribution.
The importance of a good indoor climate in sports facilities
A healthy indoor climate in the Philips Stadium and PSV training complexes is crucial for health and performance. A poorly functioning ventilation system can cause draughts and deteriorating air quality, which may lead to fatigue and health complaints.
Proper and regular maintenance of airsocks is also important for the sustainability and energy efficiency of the air distribution system. It prevents dirt accumulation, moisture problems, unpleasant odours and the development of mould and bacteria. This keeps the system functional and able to purify and distribute air evenly.
Is annual cleaning of airsocks necessary?
Regular cleaning ensures clean air, comfortable air distribution, lower energy consumption and a longer system lifespan.
Collaboration with Heijmans
Why did Heijmans choose Vlint?
Andre van Meijl, contract manager at Heijmans, and Marcel van Dijk, account manager at Vlint, share their experience of the collaboration.
“Initially, we were not looking for a new partner for maintaining the air system,” says Andre. “After good contact and a solid proposal, mutual trust developed that Vlint could maintain the airsocks efficiently, quickly and carefully.”
Marcel adds: “With its cleaning and laundry service, Vlint already supports multiple organisations in industry and commercial buildings with sustainable and effective heating, humidification and cooling of spaces.”
Complete support for airsock cleaning
Which areas were cleaned?
For this project, the air distribution ducts in the restaurant, executive offices and various training complexes had to be cleaned. Within just a few days, Vlint dismantled, washed and reassembled around 25 airsocks. Heijmans was fully taken care of throughout the process.
After dismantling, the airsocks were carefully packed airtight for transport to Vlint’s laundry facility in Harderwijk. There, the airsocks were washed, repacked and transported back to Eindhoven.
“For projects where dismantling, washing and reassembly require a longer turnaround time, it is also possible to store the airsocks in specially designed containers at Vlint’s location,” Marcel explains. This storage service was not used for this project.
Flexibility and planning as the biggest challenge
During the project, meetings, training sessions and other stadium activities had to be taken into account. The work had to be planned entirely around these activities. The project at Philips Stadium was completed successfully: within one week, all airsocks in the various areas had been cleaned. Andre from Heijmans is very satisfied with the fast turnaround time and the collaboration with Marcel and Vlint. “Although accessibility and scheduling were the biggest challenges, Vlint remained flexible and completed the work as agreed.”
Air distribution ducts for an optimal indoor climate
Effective, healthy and comfortable
In addition to helping customers clean and wash airsocks, Vlint offers various services to help organisations in industry and commercial buildings sustainably and effectively heat, humidify and cool spaces.
Airsocks regulate the indoor climate down to the finest detail. Air is distributed evenly while the system operates quietly and draught-free. This creates a healthy and highly comfortable indoor climate throughout the entire space.
Complete approach
Vlint’s specialists visit your location and analyse the airflow within the space or production environment. We then create a plan for optimal air distribution tailored to your specific situation.
